Curo's fire safety checks

Did you know that we do weekly fire safety inspections in all our blocks to check that the fire safety features are working as they should?

The checks include:

  • emergency lighting
  • the automatic opening vents that would let smoke out if there was a fire
  • making sure that the dry risers are clear and undamaged so that fire fighters can use them to pump water around the building
  • looking for any obvious damage to fire doors (and four times a year we’ll inspect them in detail)
  • testing fire alarms in communal areas
  • checking that nothing has been left in a communal area that could be a safety hazard

Checking your heat and smoke alarms

As part of the annual home safety check that we do in every home we’ll check that your heat and smoke alarms are working properly.

The fire service recommends that, if possible, you check your alarms every week. You can sign up for text reminders to check your alarm, and find more information about smoke detectors on the Avon Fire and Rescue website.
