Ending a tenancy on behalf of someone else

Sometimes a tenant may not be able to end their tenancy themselves. If this happens, here’s what you need to do:

  • If you have legal authority (for example, power of attorney):
You can give us notice on their behalf. Please get in touch with us as soon as possible so we can confirm the notice period and the end of the tenancy.

  • If you don’t have legal authority and the tenant has moved into a nursing home:
Please call us and share as many details as you can. This should include contact details for anyone involved in their care, such as social workers. We will also need to confirm with the nursing home, social worker, or GP that the tenant won’t be returning home.

Please remember: rent is still charged until the tenancy is formally ended.
