Frequently Asked Questions
We understand that you might have some queries about our energy-saving upgrade projects, so we've put together a few of the most frequently asked questions. If your question isn't answered here, please get in touch.
What is retrofit?
Retrofit is about improving your home to make it warmer and more energy efficient. This means finding and fixing areas where heat escapes, adding things like insulation, better heating systems, or even solar panels. These changes can help lower your energy bills and make your home more comfortable.
What are the benefits of retrofitting my home?
Retrofitting your home has lots of benefits, such as:
• Lower energy bills: You will use less energy to heat or cool your home.
• A more comfortable home: Your home will stay warmer in winter and cooler in summer.
• Better health: Improved ventilation reduces damp, mould, and condensation, which can impact your health.
• Lower maintenance costs: Fixing issues like damp can save you money in the long run.
What sorts of things are installed during a retrofit process?
During a retrofit, we can install a variety of measures to improve your home’s energy performance. These may include:
• Windows: Adding double or triple-glazed windows to keep the heat in.
• Doors: Replacing old doors with insulated ones to reduce drafts.
• Cavity wall insulation: Filling gaps in your walls with special materials to keep heat from escaping.
• External wall insulation: Adding insulation to the outside of your walls and protecting it with waterproof coatings.
• Heating system upgrades: Replacing old heating systems with efficient ones like Dimplex Night Storage Heaters, which use cheaper nighttime electricity.
• Solar panels: Installing solar panels to generate clean energy and batteries to store it for later use.
• Ventilation improvements: Adding or upgrading systems to improve airflow and reduce damp and mould.
