Our tenancies are usually long term and secure, with Assured Tenancies lasting a lifetime.

How can I apply for a Transfer?

Current residents who wish to move to another of our properties (known as a transfer) should apply through the local council's choice-based lettings scheme.

When might Curo agree to a transfer? 

There may be some circumstances where we will approve a transfer and give priority for a suitable vacancy if a resident:

  • Is a victim of a hate crime, domestic violence, or faces another safeguarding concern with a severe, immediate and unmanageable threat to their life (supported by evidence from agencies like the Police, social services, or an independent domestic violence advocate).
  • Lives in a property with special facilities or support they no longer need.
  • Needs to move permanently or temporarily for emergency work, major repairs, or redevelopment.
  • Lives in a first-floor flat and has a medical need to move to a ground-floor property within the same scheme.
  • Has succession rights to a tenancy but not to the specific property (for example, due to its size, location, or adaptations).

When will Curo not agree to a transfer?

We will not normally approve transfers for residents with unpaid rent or who breach tenancy conditions (for example, neglecting their home). However, we’ll assess each case individually. If there are exceptional reasons, such as safety concerns, we may approve a discretionary move despite tenancy breaches.
