This week is Deaf Awareness Week, which is a chance to think about how we communicate and how we can make things easier for everyone.

The theme this year is ‘Right to understand – Together, we break barriers’. It’s a theme that focuses on closing communication gaps and reducing the social isolation that many Deaf people experience.
We know that our customers have different needs and we want to make sure you can contact us in a way that works best for you.
You can contact us using British Sign Language (BSL)
If you use British Sign Language, you can contact us using SignVideo.
SignVideo is a free service. It connects you to a qualified BSL interpreter through a video call. The interpreter passes the conversation between you and our customer contact team while you speak in BSL.
This means you can speak directly with us and get the help you need.
SignVideo means:
- You can contact us in BSL
- You don’t have to rely on others to help
- The service is private and easy to use
Making our website easier to use
We also want our website to be accessible.
That’s why we use ReachDeck, an accessibility tool built into our site.
ReachDeck lets you:
- Listen to text
- Use screen reader tools
- Change text size and colours
- Translate pages into other languages
You can use ReachDeck on any page of our website by selecting the ReachDeck button (pictured below) which you'll find in the bottom right hand corner of the website screen.

We’re here to help
If you are deaf or hard of hearing and need to get in touch, we’re here to support you.
We’re always looking for ways to improve our services and make them easier for everyone to use and welcome any feedback you have.
