Sharing kindness and making change together

Our Diversity Action Group gathered recently at the historic Fairfield House in Bath where around 15 customers enjoyed an afternoon of inspiration, connection and community spirit.

Neil Rogers, Resident Engagement Officer, (pictured below), kicked off the event with a short talk about the group’s aims – to ensure every customer's voice is heard and help shape the way Curo does things. He encouraged everyone to get involved and make a difference.

Sumira, (pictured below), a Curo customer and Chair of the Diversity Action Group, spoke passionately about how the group has benefitted her and others. She described the group as “sharing knowledge, working with Curo to make changes and ultimately to share kindness with each other.” Her warmth and enthusiasm set the tone for the day, inspiring new faces to get involved.

After the talks, the group was treated to a special tour of Fairfield House. Historian, Ras Benji, shared the incredible history of the house – once the home of Emperor Haile Selassie of Ethiopia and Empress Menen Asfaw, who lived there during their exile in the 1930s. It was a powerful reminder of the importance of community and resilience.

The afternoon ended with a delicious free lunch prepared by the Fairfield House chefs, with sandwiches, cakes and plenty of refreshments. Customers relaxed, shared experiences and discussed how the group could provide ongoing support and opportunity.

Chica, a customer from Writhlington, said, “Curo are always there to help us, they really care about how we feel in our homes. I think this group will help me stay connected and get more involved in what Curo do.”

Our Diversity Action Group meets four times a year and is open to all customers who want to share their experiences, support one another and work with us to make a real impact.

If you’d like to get involved, please contact us and ask to speak with Neil Rogers or Hannah Gavin, our Resident Engagement Officers.
