Running from November 6 to November 10, the theme for National Social Housing Safety and Compliance week is “Together for Safety”. The aim is to shine a spotlight on how we work in partnership with residents, contractors, colleagues and public bodies to keep customers safe.
But, resident safety is more than just a week-long affair at Curo. Your safety is our top priority, and we’ve been making lots of changes over the past year to make sure that we keep our customers safe.
Over the last financial year, we have:
- Launched a comprehensive program to enhance the safety of our residents' homes.
- Ensured that 100% of Curo homes due for safety visits received checks, including over 10,000 gas safety inspections.
- Performed fire risk assessments in over 800 buildings to identify and address potential fire risks.
- Fully complied with the new fire and building safety regulations, including strengthening safety checks in shared areas and providing clear fire safety information to residents.
- Invested £4 million in a major refurbishment and safety enhancement program across blocks of flats, including projects in Midsomer Norton, Keynsham, and Bath.
- Begun a raft of refurbishment projects including measures such as fire stopping to prevent smoke and fire spread, updating emergency lighting, and installing upgraded smoke and fire detection systems.
- Undertaken a 5-year asbestos management survey programme to ensure we have asbestos information on all of our properties.
- Begun a radon testing programme to enable us to provide effective mitigation where required.
- Continued our passenger lift refurbishment programme.
- Maintained high levels of compliance with electrical installation condition reports (EICRs).
- Delivering an extensive water safety programme to reduce the risk of legionella to our customers.
This year, we’re pledging to continue to invest in the safety of our homes to make sure that we are not only providing Homes for Good, but to keep all of our customers safe.
