We’re proposing that we enter into a long-term agreement with a contractor to provide grounds maintenance services. This involves looking after the landscaping of communal areas, including grass cutting, hedge and shrub maintenance and leaf clearances. You don’t need to do anything unless you’d like to give us feedback about this proposal. This consultation closes on 9 Jan 2023.
Questions and answers
Will this affect the amount I pay for this service?
Yes. The cost of delivering services is increasing for all suppliers. We are trying to keep prices down by reviewing our services, for example reducing grass cutting in certain areas. If you rely on Universal Credit or Housing Benefit most of these costs will be covered.
Why are you exploring new suppliers?
Due to rising costs, our contractor, ID Verde, needs to significantly increase their prices to be able to continue to provide services. To find a fair deal for our customers, we are comparing their costs with other providers.
Will the service be like-for-like?
We will be looking at different ways of providing these services to you and are keen to hear your views on what you are prepared to pay for.
Will this impact service over winter?
No. We will continue with our current landscaping services.
Can we (the customers) take on the work ourselves to keep costs down
We are happy to discuss this with you. We have communities that have chosen to complete their own communal landscaping work, which has led to a reduction in their service charges.
Will Curo notify me of the contractor selected for the works and services?
Curo will consult leaseholders after the tender process and provide details of the tenders received and the preferred contractor(s). You’ll have a chance to give us feedback at this stage.
Where can I find out more information about my rights and obligations as a leaseholder?
Your rights and obligations are detailed in the lease of your home.
For guidance on understanding your lease and a summary of relevant legislation, you can contact the Leasehold Advisory Service, a government funded organisation that provides information and advice for landlords and leaseholders.
