Are you currently online or would like to get online but with the current rises in things like energy bills, are worrying about how you will afford broadband? Do you know you could potentially save money with your current broadband provider or get a good deal under a social tariff.
What are Social Tariffs
‘Social tariffs’ are low-cost broadband packages for people who receive certain state benefits like Universal Credit or Pension Credit. Not all providers currently offer social tariffs but some of the benefits are:
- Cheaper than standard tariffs
- Low entry costs and no price increases in the contract period
- No penalty if you move to a social tariff from your existing provider
- Sufficient speed for everyday internet use
- Social tariffs are mainly for home broadband
- You won’t pay a fee to leave the tariff before the end of your contract
- For a small household you would be looking for around 10-15 Mega bits per second, with 30-40 MBps for the average household.
How to check if you are eligible:
If you receive state benefits like Universal Credit or Pension Credit you are very likely to be eligible.
Other state benefits like attendance allowance, employment and support allowance maybe eligible, it varies.
