Adapting Work Wise in changing times – tell us how we could help you

The COVID-19 pandemic and the regulations that came with it have led to many changes in the world of work and training. Here in the Work Wise team at Curo we have adapted our service and programmes to support those most affected.

Our focus is on continuing to support our residents who are looking for new opportunities to develop their skills, to learn and to find employment in this changing climate. Lockdown presented many challenges. It’s been necessary to move much of our training online in order to reach as many people as possible and continue to provide a much needed service.

The Work Wise team created a six-week, online employability programme designed specifically for young people and delivered in partnership with Bath Rugby Foundation’s HITZ scheme.

This new and exciting programme was delivered live on Zoom in one-hour sessions. These interactive workshops focused on CV writing, well-being, money management, goal setting and cover letter writing. The workshops concluded with a mock interview where the young people involved could put their newly learned skills to the test and leave feeling as ready as possible to progress into finding opportunities themselves.

Although vastly different from our normal face to face sessions the learners were wonderfully engaged. Here’s what some of the students had to say about their time on the programme:

“These sessions helped me to realise and visualise my aspirations and how to achieve them.”

“I actually had some time to start thinking about all of this.”

“I enjoyed seeing everyone at HITZ again and listening to other people’s dreams.”

“I enjoyed meeting new people and getting extra advice and support.”

Inspired by the success of these sessions Work Wise are now looking to deliver our support in new ways.
