Current courses

Work Wise offer courses to help boost employability. We're currently running Strength In Numbers, a free course focused on building confidence in people who are anxious about maths, empowering them to overcome their fears.

The course involves 20 hours of in-person teaching, which is tailored to the needs of each cohort. For example, this could be five weeks of sessions from 10am-2pm, or 10 weeks of two-hour sessions.

Anyone aged 19 and above, without a maths GCSE grade C or level 2 functional maths skills qualification, is welcome to join the course.

Upon completing the course, learners receive a certificate and £25 Amazon voucher gifted from Curo.

The West of England Combined Authority is working in partnership with Curo Choice to deliver the Mayoral Priority Skills Fund. This fund provides flexible grant to meet current priority skills gaps in the region. This project is funded by the UK government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.

The R.O.A.R initiative delivered by the Workwise team in Curo Choice Ltd is a specialised learning and employment program designed for refugees and asylum seekers aged 16 and above in Bristol, South Gloucestershire, and BANES who are unemployed.

The acronym R.O.A.R stands for Recognise & Relate, Orientate, Advance, and Roots. The program aims to enhance the skills and abilities of participants, enabling them to actively engage in society and broaden their prospects for entering the workforce, training, and employment.

Here's a breakdown of each component of the R.O.A.R initiative:

Recognise & Relate:

  • Focuses on helping participants recognise and understand their strengths.
  • Aims to build relationships among participants, fostering a sense of community and support.
  • Encourages self-awareness, well-being, and confidence-building.

Orientate:

  • Supports the integration of participants into British culture.
  • Provides guidance and resources to help participants navigate the cultural landscape.
  • Aims to ease the transition process and enhance participants' sense of belonging.

Advance:

  • Expands vocational horizons, preparing participants for progression into employment, training, and volunteering across various sectors.
  • Provides practical skills development in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), life skills, and employability.
  • Focuses on preparing participants for a successful entry into the workforce.

Roots:

  • Builds foundations within the community.
  • Encourages participants to establish connections within the local community.
  • Aims to create a sense of stability and belonging for participants.

The R.O.A.R initiative delivered operates on an 8-week rolling program. Each program consists of four modules, each tailored to one of the key components (Recognise & Relate, Orientate, Advance, Roots). This structured approach ensures comprehensive support for participants as they progress through the program, with a focus on holistic development that addresses both personal and professional aspects of their lives.
