What will to selection process involve?

We anticipate that the selection process will involve some of the following elements:

  • Telephone interview
  • Psychometric and numerical/reasoning tests
  • Two-stage interview including presentation
  • Group assessment activity

What qualifications do I need?

Ideally, we are looking for candidates either expecting or already holding a 2:2 degree in a construction related subject. However, as long as you can demonstrate the personal characteristics and leadership principles we expect from our colleagues then please get in touch.

How long is the course?

The programme will run from September 2017 for two years.

Will I need to travel?

We predominantly work in the Bath and Bristol area, with outlying sites in the wider West of England region. You may be located at any of our developments within this area and so some degree of travel should be expected.

Can I visit a site before my interview?

We welcome any interest in our developments and the work that we do if you feel it would be helpful. If you would like to do arrange a visit please mention this when you are contacted about your application. Depending on the level of interest, we may not be able to accommodate all requests but will do our best.

Will there be a role for me at the end of the programme?

If you successfully complete the programme you will be offered the opportunity to remain with Curo as a permanent colleague. The roles on offer at the time of your completion may vary and we are unable to promise that specific roles will be on offer at that time. Curo's house-building division is an expanding enterprise and as such roles will become available regularly over the coming years. If you are successful we will endeavour find a role that matches your aspirations to ensure we keep hold of our talent.

Will I be told if I am not successful at each stage?

Yes, we will update you after each stage.

Will I be expected to do any professional qualifications during the program?

The focus of the programme will be to learn about the specific disciplines contained within the operational rotations. These will be supported by corporate-led training and development courses, such as our Inspirational Leadership Programme. Once you have completed the programme and secured a role within Curo's Homes division we will talk to you about any appropriate professional qualifications or accreditations.

When will I have to choose which discipline I want to specialise in?

We will start discussing this with you at the six-month review stage, aiming for a final decision to be made during your last rotation once you have had chance to experience all elements of the Curo Homes structure.

What general development can I expect to receive?

Curo has an established corporate-wide learning and development approach which you will have full access to. Courses you will be expected to participate in will include our Inspirational Leadership Programme, our customer-focused Energize course as well as receiving ongoing support from a dedicated mentor and specialist coaches during each rotation.

What support will there be for me during the two years?

You will be given a dedicated mentor throughout the programme. They will be part of our Senior Management Team but not part of the Curo Homes function to provide completely impartial emotional and developmental support whilst you are completing your programme.

How will I be measured throughout the programme?

During your first year, for each of your operational rotations, you will be expected to complete a small project and at the end of the rotation you will present your findings to the Divisional Director and your specialist coach. This exercise will help us assess whether you have gained the relevant experience and competency for that rotation before moving on to the next one. This will also provide us with the opportunity to assess how the programme is working for you and make any adjustments should they be needed. You will also be expected to complete a Continuous Personal Development throughout your programme to demonstrate your learning.

During your second year you will be set specific objectives and have regular reviews with your manager to discuss your progress. This process is aligned to the performance management and personal development review process that all our colleagues experience within Curo.

What happens at the end of the two years?
