University of Bath students visit award-winning development from Curo

Mulberry Park, the award-winning residential development from Curo, recently hosted students from the neighbouring University of Bath as part of their education in civil engineering and architecture.

The students, led by their lecturer Gavin Knowles, visited Mulberry Park to learn about the innovative construction methods and housing designs featured in the development. The visit offered a unique opportunity to observe the latest building techniques and structural engineering practices in action.

The development has been designed with the needs of modern family living at its forefront; and the students had the opportunity to explore this concept first-hand. Of particular interest was the diverse range of homes at Mulberry Park, which range from semi-detached and terraced townhouses to smaller apartments and larger detached houses.

Curo is committed to supporting education and training opportunities in the local area and established a leading partnership with Bath College and local construction firms to provide accredited work placements and apprenticeships at Mulberry Park and across its housing and support organisation. By 2020, Curo had aimed to deliver 100 work and educational placements, 70 jobs with training, and 15 apprenticeships at Mulberry Park, and is pleased to report that it has achieved and exceeded these targets.

"It's always inspiring to see the next generation of architects and builders developing their skills and knowledge, and we look forward to seeing what they will achieve in the future."

Gaining confidence online - Stephen's Story

Through our partnership with We Are Digital, we have been helping to support Curo residents gain knowledge and build confidence getting online.

Stephen, a Curo resident, shares his story.

“I was really grateful for the service and always felt positive at the end of each session feeling accomplished”.

Stephen had some experience in using computers, and he used his local library to access the internet for general online browsing and sifting through emails. He was keen to learn and brush up on his digital skills.

He was referred to We Are Digital for training by Curo, and it was established that he would benefit from using his own and a more up-to-date digital device. He was given a tablet to support him during his sessions.

“I was quite excited, almost thought it was too good to be true when I was first called up about training, especially getting free equipment”.

Stephen received all his training with the same trainer, Bobby, and says he helped him to feel more confident during his sessions.

“Bobby was absolutely brilliant, very patient and helpful with everything in all the sessions. Didn’t make me feel intimidated with learning at all”.

Since the training Stephen continues to use the digital skills he leant, logging into MyCuro to view his account information, browsing the internet and doing more tasks online.

We still have a few places remaining for Curo residents who would like to receive training.

All the training is free and will take place remotely, you'll receive six hours of help where you need it the most. We can also help you with equipment and provide an internet connection to get you started.

Would you like to improve your online skills or know of another Curo resident that you think might benefit?

We've teamed up with We Are Digital, our expert training partner, they can show you how to connect with family and friends, filling in online forms, paying bills and help with getting back to work. They've helped lots of residents get online and explore.
