Next phase of Pride in Place

Great news for our residents in Twerton and Whiteway. The next phase of the government’s Pride in Place Programme is being rolled out, bringing up to £20 million of funding to Twerton and Whiteway.

The article below from Bath and North East Somerset Council explains what to expect next and how members of the communities can get involved.

For more general information about the Pride in Place programme, search for ‘Pride in Place’ on the GOV.uk website.

Pride in Place is bringing up to £20 million of funding to Twerton and Whiteway to help improve opportunities for everyone over the next ten years. The programme is community-led and puts decision making in the hands of local people. Any member of the local community can get involved and play a part.

A new Neighbourhood Board will be set up to manage the programme and be champions of the local community. The board will be led by an independent chairperson following a competitive application process. The chairperson will be a part-time salaried position and the members of the board will be entitled to reasonable expenses

Work to bring Pride in Place to life will take place throughout the year, starting with a series of community events running from February 27 to March 8. These events will provide a space for the community to come together and explore ideas and ambitions for the project.

Events will take place at The Annex, Bath Foyer, a space made available with support from Housing Association Curo, with other activities held across the neighbourhood.

Councillor Kevin Guy, Leader of Bath & North East Somerset Council, said: “We have written to all addresses in the area. If you get a letter, please spare a few minutes to read about Pride in Place and how you can get involved. It is an amazing opportunity for people who live and work in the area to make changes that will improve opportunities for everyone in Twerton and Whiteway. One of the first issues the board will be asked to look at is the project boundary. A change of boundary is fully supported by ward councillors who have been campaigning for Whiteway to be fully included.”

Councillor Paul Roper, Cabinet Member for Economic and Cultural Sustainable Development, said “We strongly encourage the Twerton and Whiteway community to get involved at the upcoming events as well as the wider Pride in Place programme. Neighbourhoods and communities are not defined by lines on maps. They are formed of groups of people who have meaningful relationships and a shared sense of place, identity, or purpose. From residents to businesses, charities to clubs all are welcome to participate.”

Applications for the role of independent chairperson and expressions of interest for Neighbourhood Board positions will open in mid‑February. Anyone who is ‘from,’ living or working in the Twerton and Whiteway Ward; holds a prominent role in the community; or has a passion for the place, will be eligible to apply for the chairperson role or board positions when the application process opens.

People can sign up for alerts about the roles on the council’s jobs and careers website. Further details on the project are available on the regeneration pages of the council website.

Repairs review

We know that it’s important to you that we complete repairs to your home quickly, efficiently, and to a high standard.

In the summer of 2024 we launched our new strategy, and our 10-year vision that “By 2034 everyone feels proud about the quality of our homes.”

At the time, we had a large backlog of repairs, we were receiving a lot of complaints, and many of our repairs colleagues were feeling unmotivated and dissatisfied with their work. We knew that we needed to take action so that we could achieve our vision.

So, over the past 12 months we’ve been working to improve our processes so that we can deliver a better service to you, our customers.

What have we been doing?

We’ve listened to what you told us in the last Resident Scrutiny panel, and have been working on putting in place the improvements that you suggested.

We’ve also held face-to-face sessions, and connected with more than 300 customers digitally, to help us create a better, smoother repairs process.

We now have a dedicated Damp and Mould team to help us respond to issues more quickly and effectively, in line with Awaab’s Law.

We’ve also taken feedback from our colleagues on board, and have introduced new ways of working that has improved motivation and increased productivity. This means that we’ve been able to reduce our backlog of repairs, and improve waiting times for routine repairs from around 48 days to 15 days or less.

What’s next?

We’re working on ways that we can use the information we have about every customer and their home, to help us deliver a better service.

You asked us to report more frequently on whether we’re meeting our targets, so every month (from 1 May 2025), we’ll be adding to our monthly performance report, with information about average wait times for a routine repair, the percentage of appointments that we’ve rearranged, and overall customer satisfaction with Curo’s Property Maintenance department.

We know that sometimes there can be additional issues when we work with contractors, so we’re looking at ways that we can improve how we work with them, and make sure that their work is always of a high standard.

Over the next 12 month we’ll be introducing new ways of assessing repairs as soon as they are reported, so they can be referred to the right team, and we can make sure that we’re fixing more of them the first time we visit.

Introducing Our New Customer Journey Maps

We are excited to announce the launch of our new Customer Journey Maps.

These have been created to give every customer that reports a repair, a better customer service experience.

The maps outline the process that customers can expect, ensuring that our service is consistent and efficient, and that you are kept informed during every stage of your repair. designed to enhance the experience for all customers dealing with property repairs.

We know that we’re not there yet, but our goal is to make sure that by December 2026 every customer receives an efficient, transparent, and high quality service, from the moment the repair is reported, until it’s completed.

We’ll be doing regular surveys with customers digitally and through our Repairs Engagement group to track our progress on achieving this goal.

You can find out more about our Customer Journey Maps on the Repairs web page.

Catch up with us this spring

Pictured above: Neil Rogers, Curo's Resident Engagement Co-ordinator, and Councillor Joanna Wright

Curo’s Community Catch-ups are a valuable way for our Resident Engagement team to meet customers face to face to hear about their concerns. Every week, our Resident Engagement Co-ordinators Hannah Gavin and Neil Rogers hit the road to visit the areas we serve. The team is on hand to speak to customers about anything to do with their home, neighbourhood or how to get more involved with Curo.

“The catch-ups mean that we can get out and about in the communities Curo works with and have a friendly chat with customers. I love getting to know residents and helping them out,” says Hannah. “Customers can raise issues with us which we can then follow up with Curo’s specialist teams.”

Customer John Green was at the catch-up at Curo’s community room in Larkhall on 25 April. “I’ve come along today to raise some issues on behalf of my neighbours who find it difficult to get out,” he said. “The Community Catch-ups are an excellent idea. Hannah has been brilliant. I feel she’s really listened to me.”

Lambridge councillor Joanna Wright also joined residents and colleagues at the Catch-up. “Community engagement is very important to me,” said Joanna. “It’s good to have a space where people can come along and have a positive experience. The human element is so important; it’s a chance to talk to real people about real issues.

“Climate and social justice and public health are intertwined. As people who serve communities, we all need to work together.”

Find out where our upcoming Community Catch-ups are taking place this spring and summer.

We’d love to see you there, so please do pop along for a chat and a cup of tea. Or, if you’d like to request a visit to your area, email Voicebox@curo-group.co.uk

Meet the team

There are some new faces in Curo’s Resident Engagement Team. We find out a bit more about Neil Rogers and Hannah Gavin (pictured above).

Neil Rogers, Resident Engagement Coordinator:

Tell us a bit about what you do at Curo…
I recently joined as Resident Engagement Coordinator. I'm excited about the opportunity to meet our customers and establish trusting relationships with the communities we serve.

What did you do before?
My career journey began at Lloyds Bank, where I held various positions including Financial Consultant, Branch Manager and Area Community Engagement Consultant. Later, I took up a Senior Debt Advisor role at a company in Somerset, helping both individuals and businesses with financial matters. Following that, I went into the communications industry with roles at Avonline Satellite Broadband and Truespeed, where I focused on community relationship-building. In addition, I volunteer as a befriender for young children and frequently organise charity events.

Why Curo?
I wanted a role that would inspire me to jump out of bed each morning and use my community engagement skills to make a positive impact on people's lives. The position at Curo offered exactly that.

What's the best thing about your job?
I love the welcoming and supportive atmosphere from colleagues at Curo. And I’m enjoying getting out and meeting lots of our customers.

What's your favourite hobby or pastime?
Drumming has been a passion of mine for more than 35 years, and I play with two rock bands. One of them has released two original albums, a live album and a Christmas single, available on streaming platforms. I've had the privilege of performing at various venues, including Glastonbury Festival and the Bristol Beacon. We’ve even supported 70s band Hot Chocolate at a music festival. I also enjoy going to gigs – rock and metal are my favourite genres.

If you could have any superpower, what would it be?
While it might sound clichéd, I would choose the ability to prevent people from committing evil acts. Imagine a world free from invasions and wars – a safer and better place for everyone.

Hannah Gavin, Resident Engagement Coordinator:

Tell us a bit about what you do at Curo…
As part of the Resident Engagement Team, I’m a point of contact for our customers, someone to talk to face to face. I help to run different groups, giving voices to our customers and can act as the midpoint between customers and our specialist teams.

When did you join Curo and what did you do before?
I started at the end of February. I previously worked in membership engagement at sports organisation British Fencing in London for five years. I’d worked in sport since I graduated from uni. But I’d moved to Bath and I was ready to do something new. It was important that my next job would give back to the community.

Why Curo?
From my research, I saw that Curo is ahead of the curve when it comes to engaging residents, and I wanted to be part of that. For example, I was impressed by the Board Connect sessions, which are a chance for our Board to directly hear the concerns of residents.

What’s the best thing about your job?
Getting out and about to see people, especially at Community Catch-ups. We might not be able to fix people’s problems there and then, but we can make sure that people feel seen and heard. We’ll then follow up queries and get back to the customers with answers.

What’s your favourite hobby or pastime?
Tap dancing! I’m part of a local group – they’re a lovely bunch. We work on a different dance every six weeks.

If you could have any superpower, what would it be?
The ability to time travel. Living in Bath, I’d love to go back to Georgian or Roman times and see firsthand what life was like.

Why not join Hannah and Neil at a Community Catch-up? Find out if they'll be coming to you area here. To request a Community Catch-up visit to your area, please email Voicebox@curo-group.co.uk

Curo plans royal knees-up to mark Platinum Jubilee

Residents living in Curo sheltered housing provided will be celebrating The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in style at three special events in Bath, Keynsham and Timsbury in May and June.

The events are also open to anyone aged 60 or older living nearby, with tickets costing just £2 per person.

The street-party-style events will feature live music, food and drink (with a toast to Her Majesty The Queen), songs from the 50s and 60s, and there will be prizes to be won. The three events take place in Keynsham on 26 May, Timsbury on 1 June and Bath on 9 June.

Curo Livewell Officer Holly Reed has organised the celebrations. Holly said: “After the restrictions and hardships of the pandemic, we really wanted to bring people together for some good old-fashioned fun and what better reason than this special Jubilee.

“Helping to beat isolation and loneliness is an important part of what we do across Curo sheltered housing. Every week there’s something happening at one of our many Livewell Hubs, from singing and Scrabble to bingo, and our ever-popular coffee mornings.”

These Platinum Jubilee celebration events are for anyone living in Curo sheltered housing, or who receives Curo’s Independent Living Service which helps people to live life to the full in their own home.

Older people who aren’t Curo residents are also very welcome, along with any carers or family members.

Tickets are essential for everyone, and can be booked by calling Holly Reed on 07779 981154, emailing holly.reed@curo-group.co.uk.

The events are being supported by Travis Perkins Managed Services, who have contributed £3,000 through the joint Curo and Travis Perkins funding pot which is available for local community projects and ideas.

Travis Perkins Account Manager, Martyn Piper, said: “Travis Perkins are pleased to support Curo and their residents for the Platinum Jubilee celebrations. Many older residents who don’t have a close support network nearby can feel very isolated. So, the hope is that by attending these events people will build relationships with their wider community and enjoy the celebrations together.”

Image above: Curo Sales Advisor, Ruby Webber and Jehu Project Manager, Tomasz Magiera helping Year 1 and Year 2 pupils to plant their new sensory garden at Oasis Academy Bank Leaze.

A school in Lawrence Weston, Bristol has opened a new sensory garden to help promote the pupils’ wellbeing and mental health.

Oasis Academy Bank Leaze, also known locally as ‘the blue school on the hill’, was helped to set up the garden by housing association and housebuilder Curo and their contractor Jehu Group.

Curo is working with Jehu to deliver 57 new affordable homes for social and affordable rent and shared ownership at The Willows, a residential development near the school.

The materials and labour for the planters as well as all the plants were donated by Curo and Jehu as part of their joint commitment to support communities and make a positive contribution to the neighbourhoods they work in.

Students from Year 1 and Year 2 were helped by Curo and Jehu colleagues to plant the garden with low ferns, rose bushes, ornamental grasses, coloured heathers and some herbs.

L-R: Paula Beel, Curo Sales Manager, Ruby Webber, Curo Sales Advisor, Tomasz Magiera, Jehu Project Manager and Georgina Fitz-Gerald, Oasis Academy teacher with Year 1 and Year 2 pupils.

Curo Sales Manager, Paula Beel, says: “Supporting local communities where we build much-needed new homes is part of Curo’s purpose – Homes for Good.

“Over the past couple of years, we’ve all rediscovered how powerful nature can be in helping us to maintain and improve our well-being and mental health. We’re really pleased that, alongside our contractor Jehu, we were able to help the school create this lovely garden for their children to enjoy every day.”

Jehu Project Manager, Tomasz Magiera, says: “We’re proud to work with Curo at The Willows, delivering much-needed new affordable homes in Lawrence Weston, and supporting community initiatives that benefit local residents. It’s great to see how much the children are already enjoying the new garden and we’re proud we could come together and use our strength as a force for good in society.”

Oasis Academy Bank Leaze teacher, Georgina Fitz-Gerald, says: “The children loved planting and tending to the garden. They’re really excited about watering the plants to help them grow and look forward to seeing how they will change over the seasons.

“At our school, we try to use the outdoors as much as possible to teach our children about nature and the environment, and to promote their mental health. We’re over the moon with our new garden and I’m certain it will be enjoyed by the kids for many years to come.”

The Willows is a 100% affordable housing development, including 19 homes for sale through the part-rent/part-buy scheme, shared ownership. The development will be completed by the end of 2022.

A look back at Curo’s first digital Residents’ Conference

It’s now become a tradition for us to hold our annual Residents’ Conference in September. While COVID-19 prevented us meeting up in person this year, it didn’t stop us taking to the stage and giving you the opportunity to get involved.

Held over three sessions, we invited Curo residents to join us via Zoom, Facebook or YouTube to watch and take part in our first ever Digital Residents’ Conference. Ten teams from across Curo took to the floor in the morning and afternoon sessions to talk about what they do, the improvements they’ve been making and to ask for feedback and questions from the audience. Many of you got involved on the day and many more continue to provide comments via Facebook. Thank you!

In the evening Chair of the Board Liz Potter, Chief Executive Victor Da Cunha and Executive Director of Customer Experience Paul Harris talked about the challenges facing the organisation through this difficult time, how we’ve performed over the last year and what the future holds for Curo.

Questions were pitched in from watching residents on topics including the financial resilience of the organisation, how residents can get involved with their local residents’ association, whether we should publish a minimum standard when letting new homes, how we ensure all our homes meet disability regulations and whether we have plans to open an office in Bristol. We’re reviewing all the ideas raised during the day and will confirm progress in due course.

The day closed with the presentation of two community awards, with the fabulous Chew Chat community initiative picking up the Community of the Year Award and neighbourhood dynamos Rowan Edwards of Snow Hill and Cerise Banwell of Pill crowned Curo Community Champions. We also unveiled the winners of the Curo in Bloom competition. Congratulations to all of you and thanks to those who took part this year.

If you weren’t able to join in on the day, you can still watch every presentation online at www.curogroup.co.uk/resconf2020.

Curo welcomes residents to new affordable homes in Midsomer Norton just in time for Christmas

16 families in Midsomer Norton will celebrate Christmas in brand new homes this year, thanks to the completion of a 100% affordable housing development by housing association and housebuilder Curo and contractor E G Carter & Co Ltd.

Pictured above (R-L): Curo Chief Executive, Victor da Cunha, Town Mayor Michael Evans, ward councillor for Midsomer Norton Redfield, Paul Myers, and Curo Deputy Managing Director, Sarah Maylor, with the new residents at St Chad's Green, Midsomer Norton

Curo has last week welcomed residents at its regeneration scheme of 16 new affordable homes at St Chad’s Green in Midsomer Norton. The occasion was marked with a Christmas lights switch-on ceremony attended by the new residents, Town Mayor Michael Evans and ward councillor for Midsomer Norton Redfield, Paul Myers.

Construction of the 15 homes with two, three and four bedrooms and a one-bed flat started in February this year; all homes are now occupied, with 12 being let on affordable rent and 4 sold through the low cost homeownership scheme, Shared Ownership.

Curo Chief Executive, Victor da Cunha, says: “It’s fantastic to see the new residents move to high quality, safe and secure homes in time for Christmas and we wish them a very warm welcome.

“This scheme is a great example of how housing associations can address the changing housing needs of an area by working in partnership with local authorities and central government.”

The new homes were created in partnership with Homes England and Bath & North East Somerset (B&NES) who provided grant funding of £480,000 and £200,000 respectively, topping up Curo’s investment of almost £2 million.

Councillor Tim Ball, Cabinet Member for Housing and Planning, welcomed the new development saying “I am delighted that the Council was able to help Curo deliver these much needed homes in Midsomer Norton through the use of our Affordable Housing capital funding. The delivery of affordable homes is a key priority for the Council and we are particularly pleased when a housing association like Curo can bring forward developments that are 100% affordable housing”.

Ward Councillor for Midsomer Norton Redfield, Paul Myers, has been involved in the development since its inception and says: "It’s great to meet the new residents and see how providing good quality affordable homes in the right locations can positively impact the community and people’s lives. The families I’ve met today will benefit from these modern new homes well into the future.”

Amongst the new residents are Laura Prior, her partner Sam and five children. They’ve been living in temporary accommodation for 18 months before moving to a four-bedroom detached home at St Chad’s Green.

Laura says: “We were living in a two-bed flat with five children - it was very hard work. Our new home is absolutely lovely and it feels like a mansion in comparison. We’re all looking forward to enjoying our garden - the kids are overwhelmed with the space they have to play in.”

Pictured above: Father Christmas handing presents to some of Curo's youngest new residents at St Chad's Green, Misdomer Norton

Elizabeth is a teacher. She lived in Midsomer Norton all her life and her son goes to a local school; they moved to a new two-bed home at St Chad’s Green.

Elizabeth says: “My little boy and I feel really blessed and lucky to move in a house like this. We’ve always lived in this area, we love it here and it’s amazing that we now have a place where we can stay for the long term and put down roots, the secure tenancy means a lot to us.”

Daniel Young is one of the new shared owners at St Chad’s Green. He’s 32 years old and works as a machine operator for a local company producing medical packages. Daniel has been living with his parents just up the road from the new development, saving up for a deposit to buy a place of his own. He says: “It’s absolutely fantastic that Curo have built these homes here. It enabled me to stay close to my parents if they need me, but also to invest in my own future, get on the property ladder and have my independence.

“I think young people today have to make a lot of sacrifices to be able to buy a home, especially if they choose to do so on their own - Shared Ownership is a great way of taking that first step on the housing ladder. I look forward to inviting my friends around for the local cricket club’s New Year’s Eve firework display – I now have the best view in town from my back garden.”

Sarah is also local to Midsomer Norton and purchased a new 2-bed home at St Chad’s Green with Shared Ownership. She says: “I moved back home eight years ago to save up after renting privately for quite a long time. To finally be in a home of my own feels pretty amazing and I’m absolutely elated with it – best Christmas present anyone could wish for.”

Alongside new homes, the regeneration project also enabled Curo to deliver enhancements for two existing bungalows at St Chad's Green, with the provision of dedicated parking and solar panels, benefiting existing customers.

Brand new show home to launch at Mulberry Park

Image above: Mulberry Park show home living room

Curo will be opening the doors to a much-anticipated brand new show home at Mulberry Park, the award-winning residential development in South Bath.

The launch will take place over the last weekend of the month, with home buyers invited to attend the special celebrations on Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th September from 11am until 5.30pm at Curo’s Marketing Suite on Bradford Road (BA2 5BZ).

The three-bedroom, semi-detached ‘Portland’ show home is ideal for family life, featuring a contemporary kitchen/dining area with separate living room, WC and utility room to the ground floor, with a master bedroom with en-suite, two further bedrooms, a family bathroom and plenty of storage space occupying the upper floor.

Boasting a modern, stylish, yet homely interior décor, the new show home will give visitors a glimpse into the type of lifestyle that properties at Mulberry Park can offer. One of the rooms, imagined as a child’s bedroom, was furnished in a tropical rainforest theme and features a very special art piece – an orangutan painting by one of the 5-year old pupils at Mulberry Park Educate Together primary school.

Lisa Howells, Curo Sales Director, explains: “Mulberry Park is a strong, growing community, with the new nursery, school and Hub sitting right at its heart and bringing everyone together. We wanted to celebrate this by giving the younger members of the community an opportunity to put their stamp on the new show home.

“Children from the new local school painted their favourite rainforest animal to complement the design of one of the rooms – we chose the orangutan to be displayed in the show home but all of the art pieces are fabulous and can be seen on our website.”

Mulberry Park Educate Together Headteacher, Emma Garnett, says: “It’s fantastic to be part of the thriving community at Mulberry Park and the children love getting involved in these activities. We had fun painting and drawing while learning some interesting facts about the rainforest; thanks to Curo for the wonderful rainforest books gifted to our Bumble Bee class pupils.”

The newly released properties at Mulberry Park are 2, 3 and 4-bedroom homes, with prices starting at £295,000.

Mulberry Park properties are also available with Help to Buy, the government’s Equity Loan scheme that lends home buyers up to 20% of the value of a new build home.

Image above: Mulberry Park show home master bedroom

Lisa says: “With such a wide choice of properties now available for reservation, we’re able to help families of any size find their ideal home in this vibrant, new community. Whether you’re on the market for a new home right now or just waiting to be inspired – we invite all home buyers to pop along to our new show home launch and discover what’s on offer at Mulberry Park.

“Visitors will also have the chance to experience the community Café’s delicious drinks and homemade cakes for free at The Hub with our complimentary vouchers which will be handed out and validated after the show home tour.”

To see the new show home at Mulberry Park, visit Curo’s Marketing Suite on Bradford Road (BA2 5BZ) on Saturday 28th or Sunday 29th September from 11am until 5.30pm. For more information, go to www.curo-sales.co.uk or call 0345 140 5050.

Thanks for your feedback - more opportunities are coming

We recently changed the way we collect feedback from you. Earlier this year, we introduced text surveying to collect feedback on how you felt the most recent transaction you had with us went.

This was done to reduce the time it takes for you to give feedback over the phone and to give our customers much more of a say about what you think of our services. This has been up and running for a few months now and has received four times the amount of feedback that we'd have normally received at this point.

A big thanks to everyone who's taken part.

Next we're going to ask what you think about us an organisation. This is so we can compare ourselves with other social housing landlords and see what we can improve from your comments. We've asked Mustard, a company which specialises in this, to collect your feedback. They'll be contacting customers by telephone and by post, so keep an eye and an ear out for your chance to get involved.

Your feedback really makes a difference, so we hope you'll take part if contacted. There will also be prizes up for grabs for those who do get involved so come and have your say.

Other ways to get involved at Curo.

More than 200 people turn out to see plans for new Bath park

More than 200 people visited an exhibition held by Curo last week to see the detailed proposals for the open space at Mulberry Park, which will be delivered as part of the housing development.

The open space will feature areas for events that are accessible for all, play and picnic spaces, sensory and edible planting and connections to other places like Springfield Park and the popular National Trust Skyline Walk.

Curo Chief Executive, Victor da Cunha, says: “This was a fantastic turnout and it shows that local residents are interested in the new open space and the facilities it will offer. Thanks to everyone who visited and gave us their feedback.

“We’ve designed the open space together with the local community as an opportunity to encourage and promote health and wellbeing. Our ambition for the park is to bring together existing, new and future communities and to connect our development at Mulberry Park with Foxhill, the wider Combe Down area and Bath. It will be an inclusive space, for everyone to enjoy.”

As well as viewing and commenting on the design for the new park, local residents also had the chance to trial some of the classes available at The Hub for free and enter a prize draw to win one of two £50 Love2Shop vouchers.

The lucky winners were Foxhill resident Kathryn Sinclair and John Brown, who lives at Mulberry Park. In her feedback form, Kathryn wrote: “I am very excited about a new play space being available on our doorstep.”

This is what John had to say: “We believe that the new park is being planned taking account of future changes in our society: cycle path, walking and enjoyment in imaginative plantings. It will be integral with the new development and allow people of all ages to enjoy and be enthralled by nature.”

Curo will submit a planning application for the open space to Bath & North East Somerset Council next month. Subject to planning permission, the new park will open to the public in 2022.

Keynsham residents come together for community clear-up

People living in Tintagel Close in Keynsham got together to show their appreciation for their neighbourhood by taking part in a community clear-up.

Local residents organised the litter pick with Curo colleagues. Staff from the nearby Co-Operative Food store on Queens Road also helped with the clear-up and provided refreshments and hot cross buns for the litter pickers.

Curo who manage homes on Tintagel Close also recently helped people there to set up a new residents’ association.

Sharon Tucker, chair of the Tintagel Close residents’ association said, “The community clear-up was a great opportunity for people to get together and have some fun, meet their neighbours and help spruce up the courtyard area.”

Colleen Stothard, secretary of the residents’ association, added, “It was nice to see so many people from Tintagel Close of all ages come out and join us, especially the kids who had a great time. We’d like to thank Curo and the Co-Op for helping us out too.”

Colleen added, “Tintagel Close is a great place, I really like living here. The residents’ association is bringing people together. We’ve got lots planned for the summer including a movie night, a barbeque and activities for kids.”

Over twenty bags of rubbish were collected by the litter pickers. Helen Crew, Service Support Manager at Curo, said “It was a really enjoyable day. It was great to see Curo and customers working together to achieve such an excellent result.”

At the exhibition, visitors will be able to see the detailed design for the main area of public open space and the woodland walk which will be delivered by Curo at Mulberry Park, alongside proposed improvements to Pope’s Walk bridleway.

Curo Chief Executive, Victor da Cunha, says: “We’d like to thank our stakeholders and residents in Foxhill, Mulberry Park and Combe Down who’ve taken the time to attend our previous workshops and exhibitions and helped us shape the plans for the new public open spaces at Mulberry Park.

“Alongside well-designed areas for events that are accessible for all, the park will also have play and picnic spaces, sensory and edible planting and connections to other places – for example, Springfield Park and the popular National Trust Skyline Walk.

“We’re offering something for everyone, from fitness to line dancing and Tai Chi and we look forward to welcoming as many residents as possible on the day.”
