Christmas card competition winners 2025

Here’s something to get you in the festive mood – a selection of amazing artwork submitted by Curo customers for this year’s Christmas card competition. We picked a winner and runner up in each of the four age categories and invited them all to our offices at the Maltings to pick up their prizes and enjoy some festive nibbles.

Our overall winner

This year’s winning Xmas card artwork was created by Oskar, who is 14 years old. Oskar’s artwork transported us to an atmospheric winter landscape. We loved the inventiveness of the design and the wonderful technical execution.

In his Christmas message to our customers, alongside Oskar’s winning artwork, Curo’s Chief Executive, Victor da Cunha, wrote,

‘It’s the perfect choice for our official card this year and shows what we’re all about as an organisation - providing a warm and safe home on a cold winter night.'

Oskar’s mum told us they’ve had a difficult time recently and are currently living in temporary accommodation, separated from their pets and most of their belongings. She said, “The theme of the picture is, everyone needs a home at Christmas, and we hope we will have ours soon.”

0 to 4 age category

This colourful winning entry was submitted by Poppy. Her mum told us that Poppy really loves drawing and will have no trouble helping her to spend her £50 gift card.

Bennie’s hoping we’ll have a white Christmas this year with snowballs falling from the sky, just like in his super runner up entry.

5 to 9 age category

Congratulations to Bennie’s sister, Charlotte, for this lovely picture of Santa out doing some important deliveries with Rudolph, which we picked as our winner in the 5 to 9 age category.

Liliana gave us this cheeky elf, hard at work making presents – a very worthy runner up in this category.

10 to 16 age category

This fantastically detailed picture showing Santa flying around the world delivered lots of humour and individuality. It secured the runner-up prize for Mia in this category for older children. Our overall winner, Oskar, also took the main 10 to 16 prize.

17+ age category

We loved Abs’s rendering of a car returning home with a huge Christmas tree attached to the roof. Abs revealed she drew it last year but didn’t get round to submitting it - we’re really glad that you did this year, Abs!

It didn’t take us long to reflect on this clever calligraphic tree sent in by Yazmin and pick it as our runner up in the 17+ category.

Well done to all our winners and runners up. It was a really high standard this year, as you can see from the other entries we received, below. They all deserved recognition and shortlisting was a real challenge. All the entries are available to view in our reception area at the Maltings. Thank you to everyone that took part, we hope you all have a very merry Christmas.

Christmas can be a magical time, it can also be hard, stressful and very expensive.

Our Customer Accounts Team are here to help any Curo customers experiencing a difficult time financially. So, If you’re not sure where the money’s coming from to cover the essentials, the Christmas extras and the rent this month, please get in touch. We know it can be hard to ask for help, but you’ll get a supportive and sympathetic response from one of our amazing colleagues - someone able to offer practical help to improve your situation. They’re experts at dealing with financial difficulty and are trained to help with problems arising from debt, including money owed to loan sharks.

They can also make sure you’re getting all the money to which you’re entitled. They're also incredibly well connected and can put you in touch with a huge range of local services offering support and advice. In Bath & North East Somerset, that includes a network of warm spaces and a service to find affordable or emergency food.

Connect Bath will offer Christmas lunch to 150 local people who would otherwise be alone at Christmas. You can find out more about how to apply and how to volunteer on their website.

Christmas is coming... that must mean it's time for our Christmas Card Competition 🎄

With four age categories, each winning designer gets £50 in Love2Shop vouchers, just in time for Christmas. Be as creative as you like. We’ll use our favourite designs for the official 2024 Curo Christmas cards.

Age categories: 0-4, 5-11, 12-16, adults

Christmas opening times

We’re closed from 8pm on Friday 22 December. We’ll be open as usual from 8am on Tuesday 2 January.

If you need an emergency repair you can still reach us outside these hours – just call our main number 01225 366000 to be put through to our emergency service. If you live in sheltered housing or use our Independent Living Service please use your pendant alarm in an emergency. If there’s a fire in your home call 999.

MyCuro – your online customer portal – is available all over Christmas 24/7 for you to manage any everyday enquiries you have with Curo.

MyCuro is a convenient way to book in a job with us, and appointments booked via MyCuro have exactly the same priority as those booked over the phone.

We’ll respond to you as soon as we can. We’ll be very busy in the first half of January. Our target to respond to non-urgent emails is within the first two weeks of our offices reopening. Thank you for your patience while we prioritise urgent work and our most vulnerable customers.

Our phone lines will be busier than usual when we reopen on 2 January. If you need to contact us you can also reach us via WhatsApp, SMS and LiveChat.

Card competition winners

Cute candy canes, a halo-topped angel and festive fairy lights all featured on the entries to our annual Christmas card competition this year.

Curo’s Chief Executive Victor da Cunha presented the winners with framed prints of their designs, £50 vouchers and certificates at an exhibition of the entries at our offices on Tuesday 5 December.

The winning designs will be turned into email cards and sent out to Curo’s 13,000 households over the festive period.

Tracey Abrhams, who was the over-17s category winner with her beautifully drawn design of a cat and butterfly, said: “I’ve never won anything in my life so this was a real thrill.”

The judges loved the heart-adorned tree and colourful festive character in 0-4 category winner Charlotte Ehrhadt’s bright and bold design. Mum Beate said: “I’m super-proud of Charlotte. She loves drawing so I immediately knew when I heard about the competition that she should enter.”

From the wings on the note to Santa, to the colours on the roaring fire, the judges loved the details in 10-16 category winner Aleksander Bozic Taylor’s design: “I was excited to win as I love drawing,” said Aleksander. “I just thought of loads of Christmassy things that I could put into the design, like the sleigh and elf.”

Sophia topped the 5-9 category with her lively festive scene. Steph, Sophia’s mum, said: “She was ecstatic to win. I’m so proud of her – I cried when I found out she’d won.”

Victor da Cunha said: “We always love seeing the creativity of residents who enter our annual Christmas card competition. The standard was incredibly high this year, which made picking our winners a tricky task. Thank you to everyone who entered and huge congratulations to our winners.”

Santa spreads Christmas magic to Curo customers at The Hub, Mulberry Park

Santa stopped at The Hub, Mulberry Park, to spread Christmas magic to more than 370 Curo residents at a festive family fun day on Saturday 17 December.

Santa’s elves had set up a gorgeous grotto, with twinkling lights and a throne, where Santa read a story, Oliver, The Littlest Elf, to the children. He then gave out gifts and there was a chance for families to get a photo with the man himself.

Curo customer Katie Eames, who lives in Foxhill, was at the event with her daughter Ariya, aged four, and son Ethan, aged nine months. “It’s lovely that Curo put on this event,” said Katie. “I kept it a secret from Ariya until this morning. When she found out we were seeing Santa she was so excited, she ran all the way here!”

“My favourite bit was seeing Santa,” said Ariya. “He was funny.”

At The Hub’s entrance, a snow machine greeted guests with a flourish of yuletide cheer, while craft stalls from local makers meant families could grab some last-minute gifts.

Children enjoyed a spot of Christmas crafts, including decorating wreaths and colouring in cards. And there was festive face-painting, plus donkey rides in the snow-covered play area outside.

A Christmas raffle raised £244 for Bath City Farm, Curo’s Charity of the Year.

“The Christmas Magic event was a lovely opportunity to bring joy to our younger residents and their families at the end of what has been a hard year for a lot of people,” said Michelle Sage, Resident Engagement Co-ordinator. “Our team of elves was made up of Curo colleagues volunteering their time. They all loved putting smiles on the children’s faces. The feedback from parents was really positive, with many saying how amazing it is that Curo put on events like this.”

Santa added: “I loved meeting all the boys and girls at The Hub and had a wonderful time bringing joy to residents this festive season.”

The event closed with the spectacular switching-on of Mulberry Park’s Christmas lights – with special guest star Charlie Ewels of the Bath Rugby team.

Guests were invited to watch the display from the Curo Sales Suite, with Santa’s elves providing festive treats and mulled wine for adults, as well as non-alcoholic drinks for children.

Jodie Winter, Curo Sales Manager, said: “The Christmas light switch-on was a wonderful finale to such a magical day; it was a special chance for the Mulberry Park neighbourhood to come together and share the holiday goodwill.”

Our big Countdown to Christmas competition is back for 2022!

Here’s all you need to know about the competition and most importantly, how to enter!

As we look forward to the festive season, we want to bring some welcome cheer and help make your Christmas that little bit more magical. So, this year we’re giving you even more chances to win – with a prize giveaway every day!

Each day during the competition we’ll be giving away a £100 Love2shop Gift card, which you can use at lots of great places from M&S to Boots, The Entertainer, TK Maxx, Argos and many more.

The competition opens Thursday 1 December and closes on Friday 16 December (with the final winner picked on Monday 19 December).

So, how do you enter?

You just need to be registered with MyCuro and VoiceBox to be in with a chance of winning a £100 Love2shop Giftcard.

At the end of each day (Saturday and Sunday’s winners will be drawn on a Monday), we’ll pick out a name at random from everyone who’s entered.

You only need to register once to be in with a chance to win each day. If you are already registered with MyCuro and VoiceBox, you don’t have to do a thing, you’ll be automatically entered into the draw.

Christmas fun at The Hub - 18 Dec

**Important Update**

To keep everyone safe, we have made some important changes to our Christmas event being held on Saturday 18 December.

Santa’s Grotto will go ahead in a socially distanced and safe way for those who have already booked a ticket. Sadly we are unable to accommodate anyone else so please do not turn up on the day without a confirmed slot.

Our jolly Christmas donkeys will still be here, outside The Hub entrance. The other planned activities, including face painting and craft activities, have been cancelled.
Please take a lateral flow test on the day before attending and do not visit if you or your family have Covid symptoms. Face coverings are required to enter Santa’s Grotto for all adults.

We understand some of you might feel disappointed, but this is the safest way for the event to still go ahead. Thank you for keeping everyone safe.

Congratulations to our 2019 Christmas Card Competition winners!

Six-year-old Twerton resident Brooke has seen her design chosen as Curo’s official Christmas card for 2019!

Brooke won our annual children’s design competition.

One of the judging panel, Curo graphic designer Elliot Guise, said: “Thanks to everyone who took part - we had so many fantastic designs sent in this year. We loved Brooke’s colourful design which features a night sky and festive Christmas tree.”

Curo Chief Executive Victor da Cunha presented Brooke (pictured above) with her prize – a £50 gift voucher, winner’s certificate and framed print of her design – at a prize-giving ceremony held on 19 December at Curo’s offices in Bath.

Four runners-up each won a £25 gift voucher and framed prints. The runners-up – Amelia (from Mulberry Park, Bath), Ezra (from Snow Hill, Bath), Lola (from Odd Down, Bath) and Tilly Mae (from Southdown, Bath) – were all invited in to see their designs on display and to collect their prizes.

Members of the public are welcome to drop in to The Maltings, Bath, BA2 1EP to see the winning designs on display and enjoy a free hot chocolate. Curo’s Christmas office opening hours are at www.curo-group.co.uk/christmasopening
