Curo colleagues and customers have helped raise a fantastic £5,000 to fund a new guide dog for Guide Dogs UK, Curo’s charity of the year.
Donna Baddeley, Curo Executive Director of Corporate Services, said: “We were introduced to the Guide Dogs charity through a colleague whose wife has benefited from their services, following a debilitating condition which affected her sight.
"We’re so pleased to have reached our £5,000 fundraising target thanks to the many generous colleagues, customers and businesses who have contributed time and cash over the year. This £5,000 will make it possible for Guide Dogs to raise and train a new guide dog. We’re all hoping we can name it Curo!”
Once the puppy is born we’ll receive a birth certificate and photograph and we’ll be hearing about its progress through regular 'pupdates'.
Fundraising efforts, all led by Curo colleagues, included a golf tournament, pub quiz, raffles, a Eurovision Day, half-marathons, duathlons and cycle rides - even a Christmas Jumper Day.
Sarah Knox, Community Fundraiser for Guide Dogs UK added: “We are grateful to Curo for their enthusiastic support and this much appreciated cheque. Every penny will help another person who is blind or partially sighted get out and about and do the things many of us take for granted."
Thanks to everyone who has supported our appeal over the year by giving time and money, in particular Curo contractors Snape Construction, NKS Contracts, Wessex Group, Mears Group and MD Building Services who sponsored our recent Curo Charity Golf Day.
