For National Apprenticeship Week 2018, Melissa Moon shares her experience as a Curo apprentice working in Curo’s Independent Lives team:
I’m an apprentice with Curo and I’ve been here for seven months now. I thought the idea of being an apprentice would be good because you can earn at the same time as learning new skills.
One of the things I most enjoy about my apprenticeship is that I travel around different offices. I go to three different offices each week and I can get a feel for the different work environments.
I began by doing a work placement at Curo and with that I got a lot of support from the Work Wise Team at Curo. A colleague called Becky helped me get into this apprenticeship.
After my apprenticeship I’m not too sure what I want to do yet, but I’d like to stay on at Curo. Hopefully at the end of getting my Level 2 qualification, I might go up to a Level 3.
My advice to anyone thinking about starting an apprenticeship? I’d definitely say go for it. It’s been an amazing experience. You get a qualification out of it and get a feel for working in real-life situations.
And you even get paid doing it!
