A leading animator is holding free half-term animation workshops at The Hub at Mulberry Park.
Children taking part will learn from Angela Frankham who’s worked for Wallace and Gromit filmmakers Aardman Animation. Angela, who lives locally, has also worked on Tim Burton’s Corpse Bride, Pingu, Bob the Builder and the Duracell bunny commercials.
There are three workshops on Tuesday 28 May: 10am to 12pm, 12:30pm to 2:30pm and 3pm to 5pm. The workshops are for children aged five and upwards.
Children taking part will create a short film with an environmental theme. Angela explains: “In each workshop every child will design and construct their own characters, create a storyboard, design and dress their stage and then create a short film using stop frame animation.”
“We’ll be making short films using plastic recycling to highlight the devastating effect of plastic on our environment. Start collecting your colourful plastic today and we’ll bring it to life at the workshop!”
The workshops are free and funded by local housing association Curo through their Community Chest Grant scheme. Vanessa Collier, Community Development Manager at Curo, explains: “Curo provide grants to support initiatives that make a positive contribution to our neighbourhoods. In 2018 we provided £13,000 of funding to 12 community-based projects in Foxhill.”
Curo have £10,000 available for community initiatives in Foxhill in 2019. Vanessa adds “We want people with great ideas to get in touch. It’s really easy to apply for funding, the Curo website has more information about our community grants and how to apply for one on the Curo website.”
